Re: Something that Aggravates me.
And I have to disagree back at you, Craes. My mother smoked for, well, however many years she did. With prodding, she also admitted to drinking in her youth. When she passed away, I don't remember anything about liver damage being on her autopsy report.
I also broke up with a chick because she smoked and wouldn't quit. I guess the line that got her was "I'm tired of you smelling like ass."
Re: Something that Aggravates me.
the state of FLorida has banned smoking in public places and it is great i just wish Virginia would do so. If a person cant go one meal without smoking they have a problem. Please smoke in your own property you dont have to give the rest of us Lung Cancer

Re: Something that Aggravates me.
the new country boy drive through in BSG allows smoking if you eat-in,,,,,,,,so i don't eat there at all,,inside or drive thru
if the state of Florida passed that law then it can't be bad for business to have "no smoking"
the older generation does smoke more because when they were young there wasn't as much known about the harms of smoking and there were commercials on tv,,etc,,,,
what i don't get is why they allow alcohol commercials and not smoking ones? isn't alcohol consumption a serious problem among our youth? and doesn't it cause health problems if abused?
Re: Something that Aggravates me.
I said it increases your chances Mikmo not that it is a definate, just like not all smokers get cancer.
Re: Something that Aggravates me.
Not everyone is as thoughtfull as some, they are some who smoke in resturants, before they eat after they eat, I don't have a problem I smoke, but and yes they are a but there I don't take mine into resturants, I wait until I leave to smoke, I don't smoke in public places even if they are smoking. Yes at football games you have to go down into the grass or onto the track, I don't sit anyway. Yes, smoking is bad for you, and everyone around you but if your causious like I am, they are ways to prevent it, I spray freshner in my house daily, I use the smoker out stuff on my furniture, I keep my ashtrays clean. I try to be causious of others. So not smokers are bad people.
Re: Something that Aggravates me.
They are if they smoke when their children are around.
Are your kids in the house when you smoke? Air freshener can't hide everything!

Re: Something that Aggravates me.
What is really sad is you see these parents drive their kids to school in the morning and you see them with their smokes that look like they're a foot long, and their kids have to go to school smelling like ash trays. When they roll their windows down it looks like a freight train. Parents should be more respectful of their kids and of other kids. But I guess grownups are allowed to be buttheads if they want to. But then they expect so much better of their kids.

KINGSPORT - Those "?No Smoking' signs posted on the front doors of area businesses aren't just to promote political correctness.
They're the law.
And according to Kingsport Fire Marshal Rob Sluss, some people have been violating the law recently.
"We've been getting a lot of complaints recently about people smoking in no smoking areas," Sluss said.
By city ordinance and according to the city fire code, smoking is prohibited in certain businesses open to the public, particularly retail clothing stores, furniture and grocery stores, gas stations and home improvement stores.
Sluss said the fire load, or the amount of flammable materials located inside the business, is the reason smoking is prohibited.
"They are required to post signs telling customers to not smoke," Sluss said.
Businesses that don't post the warning, or customers who violate the law, can be fined up to $64.75 per day per offense, he said.
Other restrictions apply to areas of a business not utilized by the general public but where flammable materials are kept or used.
One example would be an auto repair or paint shop.
Any business that has restrictions on smoking must have a designated smoking area for their employees who do smoke, Sluss said.
But that designated area must be away from any flammable materials or chemicals.
To enforce the no smoking code, Sluss said fire inspectors look for evidence of smoking materials when they conduct yearly inspections of businesses.
Smoking hazards apply to residential spaces as well, Sluss said. Smoking in bed is often the cause of residential fires, he said.
People who smoke should never leave a lit pipe, cigar or cigarette unattended, he said.
Sluss also said that with the holidays, many people host holiday parties at their home.
He said party hosts should ensure they have proper ashtrays for their guests to discard smoking material and to check chair and couch cushions after all the guests have left to make sure no smoldering smoking material fell in.
